Have your say on business in Kitimat

Short rules: No purchase necessary and no survey required to enter. Open to residents of Kitimat, BC and Haisla, BC who are 19 or older. One prize: a gift certificate valued at approximately $100 CAD to a locally owned Kitimat business. Contest closes at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on Saturday, October 31, 2026. Chances of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. A skill testing question must be answered correctly to win. Full rules below.

1. Sponsor and contest period

The Kitimat Business and Community Survey Contest (the "Contest") is run by Spruce Tree Media Ltd. of Kitimat, BC (the "Sponsor").

The Contest opens on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 and closes at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on Saturday, October 31, 2026 (the "Contest Period"). Entries received after the Contest Period ends will not be accepted.

2. Who can enter

To enter, you must:

• Be 19 years of age or older at the time of entry
• Live in Kitimat, BC or Haisla, BC

Employees of Spruce Tree Media Ltd. and the members of their immediate households are not eligible to enter.

3. How to enter

No purchase is necessary, and you do not have to complete the survey to enter. There are two ways to enter, and each gives you the same chance of winning.

Option 1: Enter through the survey

• Complete the Kitimat Business and Community Survey during the Contest Period.
• At the end of the survey, choose to enter the draw.
• Enter your full name and a valid email address, and confirm that you meet the eligibility rules in section 2 and agree to these rules. Then submit the survey.

Option 2: Enter without completing the survey

Send an email to hello@sprucetreemedia.ca with the subject line "Kitimat Survey Contest Entry" that includes:

• Your full name
• A statement that you are 19 or older and live in Kitimat, BC or Haisla, BC
• The locally owned Kitimat business you would like your gift certificate from (optional)

Email entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on Saturday, October 31, 2026. The email address you send from will be used as your contact email.

For both options

• You must give a valid name and email address. Entries with incomplete, false or unreachable contact details will be disqualified.
• There is a limit of one entry per person, whichever way you enter. If a person submits more than one entry, only their first entry will count and any others will be removed.

4. The prize

• There is one prize: a gift certificate with an approximate retail value of $100 CAD to a locally owned business in Kitimat, chosen by the winner. The prize is open to eligible residents of Kitimat and Haisla only.
• The business must be locally owned and operated in Kitimat. National and regional chains, franchises and online retailers do not qualify.
• The Sponsor will confirm that the winner's chosen business qualifies. If it does not, the winner will be asked to choose another.
• The prize must be accepted as awarded. It cannot be exchanged for cash or transferred to another person.
• Once issued, the gift certificate is subject to the terms and expiry date set by the business that issues it.
• The prize will be awarded within 14 days after the winner is confirmed.

5. The draw and the winner

The winner will be chosen in a random draw from all eligible entries on Sunday, November 1, 2026 in Kitimat, BC. The chances of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received through both entry options.

The Sponsor will contact the winner by email. To claim the prize, the winner must:

• Reply within 7 days of the email being sent
• Correctly answer a mathematical skill testing question, without help
• Confirm that they meet the eligibility rules in section 2

If the winner cannot be reached within 7 days, does not answer the skill testing question correctly, or does not meet the eligibility rules, they will forfeit the prize and a new winner will be drawn from the remaining eligible entries.

6. Your personal information

• The name and email address you give in the contest section of the survey, or in an email entry, are used only to run this Contest: to check eligibility, draw the winner and contact them. It is collected with your consent under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act.
• Your information will not be used for marketing, added to any mailing list, or shared with or sold to anyone else.
• Your contest details are separated from your survey answers when they are received and are never stored together. Survey results are not connected to any entrant.
• All contest entries will be permanently deleted within 30 days after the prize has been awarded.
• The winner's name will not be published without their permission.

7. General conditions

• By entering, you agree to these rules and to the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final.
• The Sponsor is not responsible for entries that are lost, late or not received because of technical problems.
• The Sponsor may disqualify any entry that does not follow these rules, and may cancel or change the Contest if something beyond its control prevents it from running as planned.
• This Contest is governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
• This Contest is not sponsored, endorsed or run by Facebook or Meta.
